"Come to supper real soon."
-God
Jesus calls each of us to come into the loving embrace of God. All are welcome. One of the ways we celebrate the gift of Love is through sacraments. We are a eucharistic community; we need to be fed in order to feed others. We recognize our blessedness in order to bless others. We seek peace in order to BE peace in our world. When we gather at the Table of the Lord, we bring all that we are, all our sisters and brothers, all the pain, all the joy, and all is transformed and fed back to us as Bread, Jesus' life-sustaining Body.
Our mission is "To love and be loved." At Church of the Beloved, we learn to receive love and to give love. We are vulnerable to one another, sharing our struggles as well as joining in celebration. We are Real.
Sacramental Life:
We rejoice in the grace and mystery of a full sacramental life.
Baptism marks us with the Sign of the Cross, initiating us into the Family of God. Infants, children and adults are prepared on an individual basis.
Receiving Communion or Eucharist is encouraged by all the baptized regardless of age. We invite children to join us at Jesus’ Table as soon as parents are comfortable. Formal education about this most holy sacrament and remembrance of Jesus’ life commences when the child reaches the age of reason. Any baptized person of any faith tradition is welcome to receive Communion.
The sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated to restore and heal our broken relationships with God and neighbor, caused through our imperfection and sin. Individual appointments for reconciliation are scheduled with our pastor. In addition, communal penance services are held during Advent and Lent.
Confirmation is a furthering of our baptismal initiation, anointing us with the Holy Spirit. We will prepare youth as they are ready and join with other Colorado ECC communities for Confirmation.
Witnessing a Marriage is our great privilege. Engaged couples are encouraged to contact our pastoral staff to discuss the individual situation. We engage in marriage preparation, a series of meetings with the presider, to fully explore the riches of the marriage covenant and enhance the relationship of the couple, followed by planning of the wedding ceremony. Three to six months preparation time is recommended. A prior marriage is not necessarily an obstacle to a sacramental marriage.
Ordination, a call to ordained ministry as a deacon, priest or bishop, is open to men and women, celibate, single and married. Guidelines for preparation and acceptance into the ECC are available on the ECC website, http://www.ecumenical-catholic-communion.org.
The Sacrament of the Sick is the anointing of a person with holy oils when s/he is suffering illness or instability. Celebrated with family and friends, the ritual and prayers call upon God’s healing mercy and grace to restore wholeness and connect to God’s abundant life.
