We Are Church of the Beloved
Our Mission: "To love and be loved."
The Church of the Beloved is an inclusive Catholic Community, welcoming each and all as the Beloved of God. We are ecumenical; we celebrate the rich heritage of Catholic spirituality while honoring all spiritual traditions. We strive for justice and peace, and respond to the call of discipleship by loving deeply and rooting our lives in prayer and service.
Distinctives that speak to our hearts:
- a rich liturgical tradition and the celebration of the Catholic Mass and the sacraments.
- a solid core Catholic spirituality.
- a willingness to “live in the question,” engaging in prayerful discernment with the individuals and the people of God in regard to divorce and remarriage, family planning, and same sex relationships.
- a church demonstrating both compassion and a call to holiness.
- a church that is open to the “rest of us,” imperfect and responding to God’s call.
- an authentic Catholic identity which recognizes the spiritual leadership of the pope, yet is under the authority of Bishop Peter Hickman.

Our membership:
The Church of the Beloved is an inclusive Catholic faith community that seeks to make the richness of Catholic spirituality and tradition available and accessible to the many people who, for some reason, have felt excluded or at odds from other Catholic churches.
We include individuals who were raised as Roman Catholics, but due to some obstacle, such as remarriage, are no longer permitted to receive the sacraments. We also include Catholics whose conscience disagrees with some of the official teachings of Rome, perhaps in regard to family planning, priestly celibacy, and/or the role of the laity.
We welcome all who seek the richness of a sacramental and liturgical community. Each baptized person is an equal member of the Catholic Church. No bishop, priest or deacon owns the Church, the sacramental ministry, or the grace of Christ. Therefore, lay people play an central role in the governance of the community.
We are excited by the growth of Ecumenical Catholic Communities across the country.
We invite those regularly attending Church of the Beloved to consider formal membership. Living as part of a community is about giving of yourself. When you are ready, make an appointment to share a meal with one of our priests for an informal chat. Spend some time with the Gifts Worksheet to discover what gifts you enjoy sharing, review the Stewardship opportunities, and pray with the Membership Covenant. As a small community, we encourage everyone's full participation.
New members are received into the community during our liturgy the 2nd Saturday of each month, followed by our potluck social celebration. The membership covenant is important to the life of our community.
