Youth Programs

Mass For All Ages

Every month our regular liturgy at 5pm includes our children and youth in the liturgy ministries. Our kids actively engage as greetors, lectors, cross-bearers (crucifers), candle-lighters, receive the offering and bring up the gifts. During the homily time, our kids go to classrooms for kid-focused learning and discussion while the adults engage in dialogue in the sanctuary. Hybrid Mass (online and in person) has made this a bit more challenging, and we are finding ways to break into groups both in person and virtually. We are so grateful for the engagement of our families in the Dance of liturgy. Although we have this Mass reserved for youth participation, they are encouraged to participate at any time.

Perfect In God's Image (PIGI)

PIGI is our youth group for grades 6-12. Our youth group gathers once each month to pray, soak up God's Word in scripture, play, share and build community. We engage in service projects such as packaging bulk rice and beans for distribution to area food banks. Call for specific dates and locations.

Youth Confirmation

Confirmation is the third Sacrament of Initiation, following baptism and First Communion: Receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit in abundance. Our youth enter into a year-long preparation for Confirmation, usually at about 7-9th grade. We study the sacraments, our faith tradition, scripture, elements of being Catholic, and life-long learning as a disciple. Each youth chooses an adult sponsor or mentor for support along the journey. Each youth researches and selects a patron saint whose story and charism is inspirational to the individual. The sacrament of Reconciliation is received during this time of preparation in order to ask God's grace to wipe our slates clean to receive the Holy Spirit's outpouring. Confirmation is not "graduation" from religious education, but rather the springboard into adult formation.
